Our research group is part of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry of the URV and is recognized as a consolidated research group by the "Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca" of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The research activity of our group focuses on the production and study of sustainable polymers using renewable materials and applying new methodologies with reduced environmental impacts.
Research activity comprises two main objectives: to generate fundamental scientific knowledge and to produce new materials that can find specific applications responding to some of the challenges of society. In this context, during the last decade, our group has acquired extensive experience in the development of new materials derived from, vegetable oils, carbohydrates and its biotransformation products, terpenes and other renewable materials. This experience has been achieved through several projects with public and private funding.
The group activity also includes training and knowledge transmission by participating in various Degrees, Masters and Doctorate Programs within the areas of knowledge of "Organic Chemistry" and "Polymer Chemistry", thus the group develops teaching work in:
- Degrees of Chemistry; Biochemistry; Oenology and Chemical Engineering
- Masters of "Synthesis and Catalysis", "Genètica, Física i Química Forense" i de "Formació del Professorat de Educació Secundaria Obligatòria i Batxillerat, Formació Professional i Ensenyament d'Idiomes"
- Doctorate program "Ciència i Tecnologia Química"
- Industrial doctorate program from the Secretaria d'Universitats i Recerca
